What to wear: Beach Formal
You receive a wedding invitation and it says “beach formal attire”. Huh? What the heck does that even mean? This week I’m going to share a series on demystifying what all this attire lingo really means. Check back for info on the difference between black tie and white tie, semi-formal and formal, and what really is appropriate for casual weddings.
Beach Formal Attire
Beach formal generally indicates that the wedding will be outside on the beach. The very first thing to consider is the weather – is it going to be really hot or a little cool? Will it be windy (since you’ll be close to the water)? Will it be super sunny?
For ladies, a formal sundress that is at least knee length and flat sandals would be appropriate. (Leave the mini-skirts and heels at home – don’t forget you’ll be walking on sand!)
For men, a lightweight summer suit paired with a linen shirt (no tie required) is perfect. Choose a light color to avoid being too hot in the sun.
