Real Weddings: Candice and Dave

I had such a great time working with Candice and Dave on their wedding plans. Both the bride and groom wanted a non-traditional wedding and really liked the idea of hosting an elegant dinner party versus your typical reception. We were fortunate enough to work with the wonderful staff at the Royal Park Hotel – and we’re even more fortunate to be able to use their Conservatory for both the wedding and dinner party.

We transformed the all-glass Conservatory into a twinkling, candle-lit, elegant venue. Guests walked into hundred of candles and were surrounded by twinkling Christmas lights on the trees outside. Add in fresh flowers, corresponding stationery and a room full of close friends and family and you’ve got yourself one of the best parties I’ve ever been part of.

With only 56 guests the room was literally filled with only very close friends and immediate family. By just walking in the doors you could tell this ‘reception’ was unlike so many others.

The night began with the bride and groom welcoming their guests into the Conservatory for an hour full of strolling hors d’oeuvres and specialty cocktails…. immediately following we began the ceremony. Yes, they did the cocktails first, then the ceremony. As the bride said, “We want to welcome all of our guests – and relax!”

Following the ceremony came the 5 course meal – starting off with crunch topped macaroni and cheese! (The groom’s special request!)

We ended the evening with a first dance and lots of conversation. Overall I think that the entire night – from start to finish – was absolutely beautiful and nearly perfect. Thanks to Aruna B. Photography for sharing the pictures!
